Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 17, 2026

Mark Norman – Better Mortgage Solutions is a mortgage professional based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, operating under the brokerage Premiere Mortgage Centre. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and how you can reach us with questions.

Who we are

Mark Norman – Better Mortgage Solutions

Operating under Premiere Mortgage Centre

Mark Norman is the privacy contact responsible for how this business handles your personal information under this policy, and the person to reach out to with any privacy question or concern.

What we collect, and why

This website doesn’t have user accounts, and you can’t apply for a mortgage or make a payment here. Everything we collect comes from information you choose to give us, so we can start a conversation about your mortgage options.

Mortgage questionnaires

Our two questionnaire tools — Lower My Rate and the Home Equity Optimizer — ask for your name, email, phone number, and answers about your mortgage or home-equity situation. We use this to prepare for a conversation with you and to follow up. Filling one out is entirely optional.

The Lower My Rate questionnaire doesn’t include a file-upload field. If you’d like to share your mortgage statement ahead of your call, please email it to mark@mark-norman.ca or bring it with you.

Booking a consultation

When you book a free consultation through the calendar on this site, we collect your name, contact details, and appointment information so we can confirm the meeting and prepare for it. The booking calendar is provided by our CRM, GoHighLevel (LeadConnector), and loads directly from their servers, so GoHighLevel also receives standard technical information (like your IP address) when the calendar loads, in addition to what you enter into it.

Live chat

On the live site, a chat widget lets you send Mark a message directly. If you use it, we receive the messages you send and enough contact information to reply to you. This widget is also provided by GoHighLevel (LeadConnector), and — like the rest of our production-only tools — only loads on the live site, not on internal staging or test versions.

Website analytics and advertising

On the live site, we use Google Analytics (GA4) and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to understand how visitors use the site and to measure our advertising. These tools collect information such as pages viewed, general location, device type, and how you arrived at the site. They only run on the production site, not on internal test versions.

We also track specific on-site interactions: which buttons and links you click, how far down a page you scroll, and when you start or submit one of our online questionnaires. If you use one of our mortgage calculators, we record which calculator you used and a rounded result range (for example, “$450k–$650k”) — never the exact figures you typed in.

Our two advertising campaign pages — the Home Equity Optimizer (homeequityoptimizer.ca) and Lower My Rate (lowermortgagerate.ca) — are operated by this same business, feed the same CRM described below, and are covered by this same privacy policy. They also load GoHighLevel’s own tracking script to measure ad performance.

We also use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly visit counter provided by our hosting platform. It reports aggregate page views and referrers only, sets no cookies, and doesn’t identify individual visitors. Like our other analytics, it runs only on the production site.

Google reviews

We display Mark’s public Google reviews on this site using the Google Places API. This only pulls in review content that’s already public — it doesn’t collect anything about you as a visitor.

Our legal basis for collecting your information

We collect and use personal information under Canada’s federal privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Newfoundland and Labrador doesn’t have its own private-sector privacy law, so PIPEDA governs how we handle your information; if that changes, we’ll also follow whatever provincial law applies.

Under PIPEDA, our basis for collecting your information is your consent. When you fill out a questionnaire, book a call, or send a chat message, you’re consenting to us using that information to respond to you. You can withdraw your consent at any time — see “Your privacy rights” below.

Email, text, and CASL

Any follow-up emails or texts we send after you contact us are covered by Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). By submitting a questionnaire, booking form, or chat message, you’re consenting to receive messages from us about your inquiry. Every message we send identifies who it’s from and how to reach us, and you can unsubscribe or ask us to stop at any time — using the link in the message, or by contacting us directly.

This website does not send bulk marketing email or text messages on its own. Any automated follow-up sequences run through our CRM (GoHighLevel) and are held to the same identification and unsubscribe requirements described above.

Cookies and tracking

On the live site, Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel use cookies to recognize your browser across visits, and our chat and booking widgets (GoHighLevel/LeadConnector) may set their own cookies to keep those tools working.

Who we share your information with

We don’t sell your information. We use a small number of service providers to run this site and follow up with you:

  • GoHighLevel (LeadConnector) stores and manages the contact and questionnaire information you submit, and powers the booking calendar and chat widget.
  • Google provides analytics (GA4) and the Places API used to display reviews.
  • Meta provides the advertising pixel used on the live site.
  • Vercel hosts this website and the small server functions behind it, such as the review display and lead submission, and stores the cached Google-reviews data and any admin-curated testimonials in Vercel’s file storage (“Blob”).

These providers — GoHighLevel/HighLevel, Google, Meta, and Vercel — are based in, or process data in, the United States. That means your information may be stored or processed there, where it can be subject to U.S. law (including U.S. government access requests) in ways that differ from Canadian law. We only work with providers we trust to handle information responsibly, and we don’t share your information beyond what’s needed to run this site and respond to you.

How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only as long as it’s needed for the reason we collected it, or as long as we’re required to for legal or regulatory reasons. If your inquiry leads to a mortgage file handled through Premiere Mortgage Centre, that file may be subject to additional retention requirements under mortgage-brokerage regulation.

In practice: questionnaire, booking, and chat information is kept in our CRM (GoHighLevel) for as long as you remain a client or prospective client, and for a reasonable period afterward in case you return; analytics information in Google Analytics is kept on Google’s standard retention schedule unless we’ve configured something different; and the administrative session cookie described below expires automatically after 7 days.

How we protect your information

This site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and our administrative tools are protected by a signed, expiring login session rather than a plain password stored in a cookie. Access to the personal information submitted through this site is limited to Mark and the service providers listed above, only for the purposes described in this policy. No system is completely secure, but we take steps that are reasonable and appropriate to the sensitivity of the information involved to protect it against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access.

Your privacy rights

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we have about you.
  • Ask us to correct information that’s inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Withdraw your consent to our collection or use of your information, at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at mark@mark-norman.ca. If you’re not satisfied with how we’ve handled your information, you can also file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, the federal body that oversees PIPEDA.

Other sites and services

Mortgage applications aren’t submitted through this website — they happen through the Scarlett Network application portal, a separate service with its own privacy policy. Links on this site to our Google Business Profile or Facebook page will take you to properties operated by Google and Meta, which are covered by their own privacy policies, not this one.

Our chat widget and booking calendar run on GoHighLevel’s software; how GoHighLevel itself handles the technical data its platform collects is covered by GoHighLevel’s own privacy policy, not this one.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in how we operate or what the law requires. When we do, we’ll update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check back occasionally.
